Saturday, April 13: As at Lake Como, many of the lakeside towns here at Lake Maggiore can be visited by public transit ferries; using this mode of transportation, on Saturday we enjoyed a ride on the lake past the three Borromeo Islands (more about these later) and then hopped off at busy Intra, which was having its weekly market day (we snacked on delicious pork roast from one of the vendors).
Sunday, April 14: Sunday, and the sun was still shining, with a high temperature of 25 degrees! We hiked through wooded areas on a path from Stresa to Bavena, the next town along the lakeshore in the other direction, and then caught the train back. Aperol Spritz by the beach at Stresa was a refreshing end to the day, watching the sun sink behind the Alps.
