Friday, April 12: Friday was spent on a scenic train ride up through the Alps from Domodossola* in Italy to Locarno** in Switzerland (*a pleasant large Alpine town, **a pretty town located at the top of Lake Maggiore). During the two-hour trip, the train chugged over 83 bridges and stone viaducts and through 31 tunnels on its 52 km journey. The scenery was stunning — snow-topped craggy mountains, trees leafing out in fresh greenery on the lower mountainsides, waterfalls, gorges, and Alpine villages.
