This was a day that filled our senses!
🔸Our sense of sight: extensive vistas of snow-capped mountains at the horizon; rolling lush green meadows across a wide valley (seen from above); bright wild flowers along our path through the woods
🔸Our sense of hearing: cow bells clanging; the cheery birdsong of Iberian chiffchaffs in the oak trees as we passed by; cars and trucks on the occasional paved road
🔸Our sense of smell: pungent barnyard aromas from the numerous farms we wended along
🔸Our sense of touch: gentle mist on our faces in the early morning ascent up a long hill; mud tacky beneath our trail shoes; cool breezes on our arms
🔸Our sense of taste: a trailside picnic lunch of Asturian cheese and salami
🔸Our sense of wonder: admiring the beauty of nature
🔸Our sense of gratitude: to be here together on this Camino
On a practical note, since my feet are really complaining a lot and I don’t want them to mutiny, I decided to give them a break and enlisted a pack-transport service. Jim says I was practically skipping along the trail today.
