Ode to a Snail

The simple caracole —“disgusting” some would utter!
To others, they’re delicious when served with garlic butter.
To us, they’re inspiration as we walk along this track;
They are slow but eventually get there with a mochila on their back.
Jim, you are not only a poet but a philosopher: “in philosophy if you are not moving at a snail’s pace, you are not moving at all” (Iris Murdoch)
